Bartoline secure Gold EcoVadis sustainability rating

Decorating sundries manufacturer Bartoline has secured a Gold EcoVadis Sustainability rating following the business’ accomplishment of Bronze in March last year.

Following its achievement in reaching Bronze in 2022, Bartoline set the ambitious target of achieving Gold EcoVadis sustainability status by 2024. Notwithstanding the challenging economic situation, Bartoline continued to drive forward on such key sustainability activities. And following their re-assessment this year, Bartoline are proud to have exceeded their aim and have succeeded in achieving a Gold Ecovadis standard, placing the organisation in the top 5% of EcoVadis rated companies in the paints, varnishes and similar coatings, printing ink and mastics manufacturing sector.

EcoVadis provides the leading solution for monitoring sustainability in global supply chains. Their methodology is based on international sustainability standards such as Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000 standard.

“Personally, I am really pleased with everyone’s contribution to making improvements across the business.” said MD Paul Robbins. “Receiving an external endorsement with a reputable leader such as EcoVadis reinforces our credibility and trust that our customers and suppliers can have in our business systems.”

The EcoVadis assessment evaluated Bartoline on 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: environment, labour & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

The Gold Sustainability rating is classed as being ‘Advanced’ and confirms how successful Bartoline have integrated the principles of sustainability into their organisation and management systems.

It further reinforces the policies and tangible actions taken on major issues, as well as Bartoline’s comprehensive reporting, innovative practices and external recognition.

“We have made vast progress in our approach to improve policies, actions and results across each of the four pillars.” said Alan Garrigan, Bartoline’s Head of Business Systems and Improvement. “Our significant strengthening in labour & human rights and the environment has been a fundamental step to achieving the Gold rating and we are delighted to have accomplished this award in such a short, projected timeframe.”
